Hiking? Yoga? Both of these inspire me on very different levels, and it is exciting to combine them into one experience. I discovered hiking while living on the Maine coast during my university years and since then have trekked in a wide array of faraway places such as the French Alps, Scottish Highlands and the Himalayas. My interest in yoga followed soon after and eventually led to 200 hour hatha teacher training at Anchorage Yoga specializing in creative flow styles. Hiking whether it be gentle strolls over forest paths or semi-vertical climbs up open faces provide a wonderful way to connect with both oneself and the natural world. Yoga furthers this experience by helping one discover the deeper workings of the body in a healthy and holistic manner combining strength building, endurance, balance and flexibility. I am so pleased and honored to be able to bring these together in a group style experience. See you on the trail or on the mat for whichever comes first. Namaste

Kristine Hayes

Kristine Hays

"The older I get, the more I live each day feeling such love and gratitude"
Kristine fell in love with yoga many years ago. As a gymnast for much of her childhood, she was always stretching and conditioning. This had such an influence on how she later felt about her body, twisting and turning, bringing a sense of calm to the mind and the body. At the time, she had no idea that she would gain such a passion for the practice. Years later, having two children, many dogs, too many military moves, and wonderful husband, she finds herself settled in Alaska, loving its beauty. If she's not teaching a spin or yoga class, she is outdoors hiking, biking, or practicing yoga on her sunny deck. Yin Yoga is her favorite. Instead of beginning graduate school, she felt it more practical to enroll in a yoga teacher training program, while living at West Point, New York. Here, she completed 200 hours of yoga teacher training with Yoga Mountain, New City, New York. Since 2011, Kristine has been teaching yoga at The Alaska Club and to the soldiers and spouses of Elmendorf Air Force Base. She shares her love and passion with each moment on her mat and in the studio. Being able to help others let go and express themselves is truly a gift to her. "May the light, the love, and the peace that lives within me, shine within you". Namaste.
